HOW IT STARTED

When founder Duane Carns worked at Toyota, he realized that his dealership wasn’t consistently obtaining customer surveys back after a sale had been made. These surveys are critical to the dealership’s relationship with their parent company, and good or negative results have a tangible financial impact on the salesperson and the dealership management. He saw an opportunity to send a gift to the clients right after the sale that would encourage the customer to contact the dealership if there were any issues at all, with the goal of correcting them right away.

This not only allowed them to get ahead of customer service issues that may have gone unresolved (and which would impact the opportunity for repeat or referral business), but also to keep those issues from showing up on their customer survey. That gift also encouraged the customer to complete the customer survey, once received. The concept worked well and became the foundation of our gift box company, Cookie Advantage.
